From the archive: King Super 20
1949 This Super 20, series 1a, was found in an attic in Belgium, long after the death of the original player, a professional saxophonist. There are still some of his things in the suitcase, I let them sit comfortably. It has always been well taken care of because there is no dent in it and apart from some wear of the paint there is no damage to be found anywhere. The original cap of the body and the original case are also still there, in good condition. Solid silver neck, of which a bit of the original lacquer is still visible, full pearls, beautiful. When I got it it didn't work at all, the original pads had completely dried out and were coming loose. It's always exciting to see what comes out of the instrument after the revision. Well, heavy shit, what a horn! Clear, clean, loads of power and projection, really such a Cannonball Adderly sound. No Selmer can compete with that, at least not in the pop or jazz sector. You can't use it for classical music, it blows the whole fanfare to pieces
