From the archive: Selmer Balanced Action
Selmer introduced the Balanced Action in 1935. With this model, the French manufacturer was way ahead of its time. So you can see the valves of the low B and B flat placed on the right side of the cup. Also some adjustments in the valve work of the low B flat, B and C sharp, made for a smoother and more 'balanced' action. The whole of innovations that Selmer applied in this model would contribute to a much smoother operation, improved intonation and a strong improvement of the sound. This example in our collection was made in 1943. It is a silver-plated alto saxophone, which has been completely overhauled by us. A winner in our vintage occasion collection! - Mood: Eb - Finish: silver plated - Year of construction: 1943 - Serial number: 31341 - Condition: revised All second-hand instruments are professionally checked before sale and, if necessary, completely overhauled in our own workshop. Checking saxophones means that the keys are adjusted, the shafts oiled, the pads cleaned and that the instrument is played all the way through. In case of overhaul, the saxophone is completely disassembled and rebuilt, with new pads and corks. That is why we offer a standard 1 year warranty and 1 year free service and maintenance on our used saxophones, just like on our new saxophones. With an occasion saxophone from Van Gorp you know for sure that you are in the right place! Of course, our occasion saxophones can be tested in our store without obligation. Our employees are happy to give you expert advice when selecting an instrument.
