From the archive: Conn 12M Ladyface

The 12M baritone saxophone is the standard professional baritone saxophone made by Conn, and not much was changed since it was introduced in the mid 1930s. Its a sax that plays loud.. Not for the beginner. Huge sound, perfect for big band, lead and pop music. Range from low Bb to high F, so no low A.This one was built in the Elkhart plant in 1963, and this is a silver-plated version. Very rare, but the former owner had it replated during an overhaul because all of these other instruments were silver plated as well. It still has the Ladyface engraving on the bell, although it is hardly visible due to the replating. The silver plating is in very good condition. Ive never seen a silver-plated 12M before, to be honest..Condition : This 12M was overhauled by its previous owner some years ago, and had an additional full maintenance check in August 2022. One dent was removed, a couple of pads were complete cleaning, rods and posts aligned, new cork and felt where required, new oil renewed and complete adjustment. Technically it is in very good condition. All pads are in great condition.Optical this horn has no real issues. It has no major dents: just one on the bottom bow guard. Only smaller dings and imperfections such as minor silver wear. The goose neck has no dents but a patch was professionally soldered before the replating. The bell engraving is hardly visible: same for the Ladyface engraving. Most important : this is a fantastic player! Not abused and played to death. The neck is a brand-new aftermarket neck, silver plated.Included is the original case, in rather good condition and fully functional. It has some light wear and tear due to normal use, but no real damage.Warranty : as-is condition : no warranty.Level : professional.Body : Silver plated.Condition : very good / ligt wear and tear.Visual : dent on bottom bow guard, some dings, scratches, light silver wear.Repairs : solder repair (patch) on goose neck / dent removal.Engraving : hardly visible due to the silver replating.Keywork : Silver plated.Condition : Very good / light wear and tear.Pads : Very good condition.Neck : Silver plated.Condition : new.Case : original Conn case.Case condition : normal wear and tear.History : No history available.Remarks : Great player!
