From the archive: Conn 28M

1951 The 28M is also referred to by Conn as the Connstellation. the 28M was built This is, together with the 26M and the 30M, the most special that Conn has built. And only a very small series of these were built. In the period (1950 to 1952) in which the 28M was built, Conn built 23,000 instruments: all types and all models together. Let that once have been 12,000 altos, and there again max. 10% of the 28M as an extremely expensive top model. Then I come to a maximum of 1000 to 1200 28M saxes. Look at the photos and you will see a very special design: never seen before, never repeated. Play it and you hear a very special instrument: brighter than what Conn built up to that point, but still warm and never sharp. The intonation of this instrument is spot on! Originally there is a plastic protective cap over the cup valves. That picture is still there, but it's not there: it also takes away a part of the sound.
